A Grounded Path to Meaning

Humanism in My Work
I regard Humanism as a life-affirming philosophy grounded in curiosity, kindness, and our shared human experience. And it is hard work! It requires that when deciding what to believe or what to do, I have to do the thinking for myself. I have agency over my own life as do you with yours. This is what makes humanism liberating and life-enhancing.
As a humanist, my life is informed by well-reasoned critical thinking, humbled and called to action by empathy, and enlarged by wonder for the world around us. It affirms that:
-
We can lead meaningful lives and cultivate our own potential
-
We should support the wellbeing of others
-
The world is a natural place of which we are a part
Humanism doesn’t promise easy answers—and neither do I—but it offers a steady compass. It helps us face uncertainty with courage, find beauty in the everyday, and build lives that are intentional and fulfilling. It encourages us to grow through reflection and action, to live ethically and with empathy, and to cultivate joy through connection, curiosity, and purpose.
We are living in an age transformed by technology and AI. Humanism offers more than principles—it offers practices for living with meaning.
Technology is reshaping everything—how we live, work, connect, and even understand ourselves. But as the pace quickens, many of us are left wondering: What does it mean to be human now?
-
Disoriented by Change? As automation and AI take over more of our roles, it’s easy to lose sight of our purpose. Humanism helps us find meaning beyond productivity.
-
Reduced to a Role? In a world of efficiency and optimization, we risk being seen as outputs, not individuals. Humanism restores dignity, nuance, and care.
-
Losing Autonomy? AI shapes our choices—often without our awareness. Humanism reminds us we still may author our own lives.
-
Shallow Relationships? Algorithms feed us content, but not connection. Real conversation is a human superpower—and a path to understanding.
-
Feeling Alone? Despite constant connectivity, loneliness is growing. Humanism calls us back to each other, to real presence and purpose.
-
Ethically Adrift? Tech evolves amazingly well and quickly, but human wisdom and values must lead the way. Humanism demands that we shape technology—not the other way around.
As a Certified Humanist Professional and a member of the American Humanist Association I bring a humanist life stance into everything I offer—from one-to-one coaching and group workshops to public conversations and community engagements. My work is grounded in the belief that Humanism offers both principles and practices for living with meaning.
